3 Different Schools of Aromatherapy
DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT SCHOOLS OF AROMATHERAPY?
They differ mostly in the way they advocate to apply essential oils to the body. These 3 different schools are:
ENGLISH:
- Diluted topical application (with a large amount of vegetable oil)
- Massage
- Relax
- Relieving stress
FRENCH
- Pure topical application (undiluted)
- Ingestion
- Add to agave nectar, honey, a little vegetable oil, or put it on a piece of bread
- Produces benefits internally
GERMAN
- Direct inhalation or diffusion
- Fragrance can exert effects on the brain
- Especially in the limbic system and the hypothalamus
- Increase oxygenation and activity in the brain
-> this directly improves the function of many systems in the body
(Myrrh, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Vetiver and Melissa)
WHAT METHOD OF APPLICATION IS PREFERABLE?
INHALATION / COLD AIR DIFFUSION:
- Increase the secretion of growth hormones
- Promote weight loss
- Balancing mood and emotions
Oils good for inhalation: Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Peppermint, Vetiver, Lavender and Eucalyptus
TOPICAL APPLICATION:
- On the back
- Muscle Injuries
- Defects
Oils good for application: Marjoram (muscles), Lemongrass (ligaments), Wintergreen (bones).
ORAL ADMINISTRATION:
- Indigestion
- In a glass of water
- In a capsule
Oils that are good to add: Peppermint Vitality, Di-Gize Vitality and in general: all 'Vitality' oils with a white label.
The essential oils are very concentrated - easily 100 times more concentrated than the herbs and plants from which they are distilled. So start slowly with small amounts.
